What is RTI (Right to Information)?
The Right to Information Act, 2005 empowers every Indian citizen to seek information from public authorities. Any citizen can file an RTI application under Section 6(1) of the Act to obtain information about government activities, decisions, expenditures, and more. The public authority must respond within 30 days. The Act covers all Central and State government bodies, local bodies, and organizations substantially funded by the government.
How to File an RTI Application

- Pay the prescribed fee (Rs. 10 for Central Govt.) via IPO, DD, or cash
- Submit the application to the PIO (Public Information Officer) of the authority
